Unbound - Unseen Photofair 2021
Unbound researches the boarders of photography during the photo fair Unseen.
For this edition in 2021 I made a new work showing how we as humans try to build using the building blocks of nature.
The work depicted an interior built up from photographs of skies. The installation consisted of a collage of different layers of natural foam plates with photographic prints and a photographic print on the floor. The contrast between the material used,
the space depicted and the natural skies were heavy.
People are increasingly trying to influence the world around us. Dust particles are brought into the air to counteract the rise in temperature, food is grown in flats with LED etc. Nature has to give way or at least adapt to architecture, while architecture is rarely adapted to its natural environment. We try to shape nature the way we shape our built environment. As humans, we long for a makeable world.
